Blind Sports Hong Kong Limited (BSHK)
BSHK provides visually-impaired people in Hong Kong with the opportunity to take part in fitness exercises such as strength building workouts, yoga, indoor rowing, walking, jogging and long distance running under the supervision of professional coaches.
Visual impairment makes it difficult for people to do sports on their own. Some visually-impaired people are afraid to leave their homes and, as a result, may lack physical strength or suffer from avoidable ailments. With the help of volunteer guide runners, BSHK hope that visually impaired people can improve their health, build self-confidence, broaden their social network and live a positive life. The interaction between the visually impaired athletes and their guide runners is invaluable in developing greater mutual understanding and friendship.
Currently, there are around 140 visually impaired athletes. Apart from regular training sessions held every week, members also take part in local and overseas races.
